Application requirements

Remote Meter Reading

Manual reading creates repeated site visits and fragmented records. Existing meters need a communication layer that fits their interfaces.

  • Confirm meter protocol, serial settings and concentrator responsibilities.
  • Select reporting intervals and address each meter correctly.
  • Plan power and carrier coverage at the installation.

From field to platform

How the system connects

Meters or concentrator connect through RS232 / RS485 to a CAIMORE cellular DTU, then through the cellular network to the customer meter-reading server. Readings travel to the server; reading requests return to the meters.
01

Collect readings

Meters communicate through a concentrator or a compatible RS485 arrangement, as described in the source.

02

Connect the site

A CAIMORE DTU transports serial data through the cellular network to the receiving server.

03

Manage reading requests

The customer server initiates supported reading requests and stores returned measurements.
